Ben Lewin is a polio survivor, a writer, and the director of The Sessions and The Catcher was a Spy. He is writing and directing a film titled “Sylvia and the President.” In the February issue of Rotary Voices blog, Lewin describes his experiences with polio and the importance of telling the story of Sylvia Flexer, a fellow polio survivor and a leader in the movement for disabled workers’ rights and inclusion. As we endeavor to bring new members into Rotary, we are reminded of the dehumanizing effect of overlooking the diversity of potential Rotarians and the need to be inclusive in our efforts.
